A viral fashion infection I may say, that nowadays a kind of
get up like denim pants, shirt and sneakers for men and denim short, sneakers,
and fitted shirt for women were all incomplete without a VARSITY JACKET on top of that.
Where it really came from or who started it all? We all know
that every school produces their own varsity jacket representing their college,
level or department but before it isn’t as grandeur as it is for today. Wearing
varsity jacket before is the usual thing for players or varsities of every
school in lieu of and there’s nothing special about it compare on how they used
it now. Just like before they don’t used it as their fashion statement. Blah.
Blah.
It’s just that before I don’t really care about varsity
jackets and all but the next day I woke up almost everyone is screaming their
tongues out every time they saw a varsity jacket being vend on the mall. Some even
customize their own design with their names being stitch on the back or the
couples name for those who are in a relationship maybe just for the heck of it. I
guess.:) .
That makes me think if we can still call it as varsity jackets. Just the style,
the color I guess, but not the whole sense of what we call “varsity jacket”.
I guess this varsity jacket thingy started with Zayn Malik
of One Direction always uses varsity jacket combined with a cap that says
“OBEY”. That’s how he wears it, makes him cool and swagger. Here in the
Philippines the first one whom I noticed uses a varsity jacket is Enrique Gil
and while dancing “dougie” with varsity jacket on his style makes him a full
swagger on the matter. That’s where he was really being recognized by people. Good
looks with swift moves and a varsity jacket on hand.
Thus, it became fast-pacing as it invades the wardrobe of
every people in this country. It serves to be a new fashion statement of
everyone. That it doesn’t necessarily mean that you must be on the varsity for
you to wear it, or you can only wear it during the Intramurals of your school,
as well as to wear a jacket only on the cold season but to wear it anytime,
anywhere, anyhow and as for anyone. As others
believe that wearing varsity jacket can actually turn their swag on. :)
